What size Christmas tree fits your ceiling?
Subtract your tree stand and topper from the ceiling height, then leave a few inches of air. With an 8 foot ceiling, a 6 inch stand, a 10 inch topper and 4 inches of air, the tree should be about 6 feet.

Quick chart
| Ceiling | Stand 6 in, topper 10 in, air 4 in |
|---|---|
| 8 ft | 6.0 ft tree |
| 9 ft | 7.0 ft tree |
| 10 ft | 8.0 ft tree |
| 12 ft | 10.0 ft tree |
How this works
Most people forget the stand and the topper. They can add well over a foot, and that is why a tree that fit in the store can look squeezed at home.
Artificial trees are often sold by height without the stand, so check the listing. Sizes are usually sold by the half foot, so this calculator rounds down to the nearest half foot.
